Flyers and brochures: print design for Acanto, an art Gallery

By Ángel Domínguez

Logotipo de Galería AcantoIt is a delight, writing a post about Galería Acanto, one of our best and most loyal customers, about whom we only have nice words to say. As a background, Galería Acanto is a business based in Almería, and is a frame workshop and a contemporary art gallery. Our professional relationship with them dates back to at least the year 2000, so they have witnessed our own history as a design studio. During these years we have done plenty of work for them, from their corporate website to their graphic communication designing posters, flyers and brochures.

Today, we will look back at some of the print design we did for Galería Acanto, flyers and brochures to be accurate. Galería Acanto organizes periodic art exhibitions, sometimes about a single artist, and other times collective exhibitions, with works by different artists who use different techniques and media. Every exhibition meant designing a promotional poster and a flyer; some of those flyers are shown below.

Another design we did for Galería Acanto was a four-fold brochure the same size as a regular CD booklet; this was intended as a promotional piece, it had to convey the philosophy of the gallery, the kind of art pieces that can be found and the services they offer, including a tear-off subscription form for clients interested in purchasing art from Galería Acanto.

Galería Acanto has also promoted some high-level exhibitions, dedicated to renowned artists like Manuel Ángeles Ortiz, who was contemporary to the artists of the Generation of ‘27 and a close friend of Federico García Lorca and Manuel de Falla, with whom he collaborated in several projects. In this particular case we designed a multi-page brochure showing some of the art pieces that could be seen at the exhibition. It was both moving and captivating, having the original works of that artist in our own hands as we photographed it before designing the brochure. Quite a privilege.
